How to Make Spiced Pecans

Pecans can be cooked using different recipes. Different kinds of ingredients can also be added to enhance or complement the flavour of these nuts. One very delicious yet simple and easy to make sweet made from fresh pecans is the spiced pecans. This is just like sugared pecans but for this recipe, you can add different kinds of spices other than vanilla extract. Here are the procedures that you should follow to make delicious spiced pecans.

• The ingredients that you will need for this recipe are as follows: one whole egg white that is slightly beaten, three cups of pecan halves, half a cup of fine white sugar, a tablespoon of water, a half teaspoon of salt, a teaspoon of cinnamon. One half teaspoon of pounded and finely ground nutmeg, and half a teaspoon of ground cloves.
• Use a baking sheet covered with aluminium foil while oven is preheating to 350 degrees.
• Lightly beat the egg white in a mixing bowl. Add water while doing it. Add the pecans and mix them all together until the pecans are already well-coated with the egg whites.
• The remaining ingredients-sugar, salt, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves-should be mixed together in a separate mixing bowl. Sprinkle the mixture of spices to the pecan nuts covered with egg white and then spread them on the foil-covered baking pan.
• Put inside the oven and bake for half an hour while stirring after every 10 minutes. Make sure that the nuts will not be overcooked or burned even just slightly top prevent them from becoming bitter. I love spiced pecans!

How to Make Pecan Brittle with Coconut

For the holidays, there are many available recipes that you can make, especially recipes that use pecans as the main ingredient. One example is the pecan brittle. You can serve this as crunchy snacks or mouth watering desserts to your guests, or even as sweet treats for children. You can also pack or wrap pecan brittles in special wrappers and give them as gifts or giveaways on your party. To add unique flavour to your regular pecan brittle, you can add toasted coconut flakes. Here are the few simple steps on how to make pecan brittle with toasted coconut flakes.

• You will need a cup of chopped pecans, a cup of coconut flakes, two cups of granulated sugar, a teaspoon of salt, half a cup of water, a cup of corn syrup, a teaspoon of vanilla, two tablespoons of plain unsalted butter, a couple teaspoons of baking soda, and additional half a teaspoon of coconut flavour or vanilla.
• Grease your baking pan using butter.
• Toast the coconut flakes. To do this, preheat your oven at a temperature of 350 degrees. Thinly and evenly spread the coconut over a different baking pan. The baking pan should not be greased or buttered. Bake the coconut flakes while stirring them several times until 10 minutes.
• Make the pecan and coconut mixture by adding the chopped pecans into the baked coconut flakes.
• In a saucepan, heat the sugar, salt, and water until the sugar has completely melted. Boil the mixture. Add the corn syrup and wait for a few minutes. Do not stir. Add the pecan and coconut mixture and let it boil a few more minutes.
• Turn off the oven and add the vanilla, butter, and baking soda. Stir well. Put the mixture into the greased pan. The greased pan should be warmed inside the oven which has been turned off after toasting the coconut flakes. Spread the candy pecans evenly. Let it cool and cut into pieces in uniform sizes.
